Richard E. Robsham, 85, of South Dennis and formerly of Yarmouth died unexpectedly Saturday June 26, 2010 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. He was the husband of Helen L. (Hallett) Robsham. They had been married for 63 years. Born in Boston, Mr. Robsham was the son of the late Rolf V. and Helen (Ellsworth) Robsham. He contracted Polio at the age of 3 but it never slowed him down. During World War II, Mr. Robsham worked at Camp Edwards rebuilding Army vehicles to support the war effortt. During the bootlegging of liquor, Mr. Robsham became involved with the liquor industry, and after the death of his father, he received one of the first liquor licenses in the Town of Yarmouth. He owned, operated and was President of Bass River Liquors for 52 years and developed the Skippers Choice product line. Mr. Robsham lived in Yarmouth for many years and served on the Planning Board and the Board of Appeals. He served as a Deputy Sheriff for Barnstable County and he was a member of the Florida Sheriff's Association. After his retirement in 1986, Mr. Robsham moved to Florida and then to South Dennis in 1991. Mr. Robsham enjoyed fishing in the Florida Keys, lobstering in Nantucket Sound, and carving ducks of driftwood ffrom local Cape beaches. He was also an avid storyteller, and an active ham radio operator W1YBY. In addition to his wife, Mr. Robsham is survived by two sons, Peter H. Robsham and his partner, Jeanne Schmitt of Yarmouthport, and David E. Robsham and his wife, Chevy of Norfolk; two daughters, Susan L. Frommeyer and her husband, Don of Yarmouthport, and Anne L. Cabral and her husband, Mike of North Dartmouth; a sister, Beverly Robsham of York, Maine; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
