Full Obituary: Robichaud, Gerhard M. Robichaud, Gerhard M. , Gerry Robie 82 of West Yarmouth died Wednesday July 4, 2012 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. He was the husband of Virginia K. (Kettner) Robichaud for 60 years. Mr. Robichaud was born in Provincetown and lived his entire life on Cape Cod. He attended Yarmouth schools before earning his engineering degree from Wentworth Institute. During the Korean Conflict he served with the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Okinawa, Japaan as a member of the Far East Air Force. He was honorably discharged after attaining the rank of Airman Second Class in 1952. After his military service, he returned to the Cape, worked with Rustys Plumbing and Heating in Hyannis before founding Robies Refrigeration in 1959. Gerry enjoyed spending time at the shop right up to this year while leaving the day to day operations to his sons. Gerry loved spending summers cruising around Lewis Bay and Nantucket Sound on his boat Mr. Cool and spending time during the winter skiing with his family and friends at his ski house in Jackson, N.H. In addition to his wife, Mr. Robichaud is survived by three sons, John and his wife, Joanne of Barnstable, Barry of Yarmouth, and James and his wife, Colleen of West Barnstable; two daughters, Patricia Evans of West Yarmouth, and Judith Olsen of Lummi Island, WA; twelve grandchildren, Theresa (Robichaud) Tamash, Michael, Stephen, Thomas, Betsy, Emily, Jessie, and Nelly Robichaud, Justin and Derek Evans, and Nathan and Britta Olsen; and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Telma (Robsham) Robichaud, a brother Joseph A. Robichaud, and a great-granddaughter. Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday July 11 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth. Interment will be private. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation for Cape Cod Hospital, P.O. Box 370, Hyannis, MA 02601 or to the Cape Cod Times Needy Fund, P.O. Box 36, Hyannis, MA 02601.
