They are not found in the 1876 or 1884 Red Wing directories. The 1880 census lists them at Wacouta Street in East Red Wing, near Bluff Street and “Lake City Road”; the 1873 Andreas atlas of Minnesota shows Wakouta Street as the name of Red Wing’s Seventh Street east of Bluff Street. By the 1890s, it was renamed East Seventh Street. The 1885 census places them in Jupiter Township, Kittson County, listed as household #27, C. J. Friberg, age 45, Anna Maria, age 44, and Wilhelmina E. age 3. They are not found in the 1895 census.
In 1900, they again appear in Jupiter Township, Kittson County, as Charles J. Friberg, born May 1837 in Sweden and emigrated 1869, and wife Anna M., born February 1841, emigrated 1873, both married eighteen years. Anna had five children of whoom two were living in 1900. Friberg in the household in Jupiter Township, Kittson County, with housekeeper, sixteen-year old Mary Luvenberg. The 1910 census lists only Carl J. Friberg, age 72, as a homeowner in Jupiter Township. The Kittson County Recorder, however, finds no vital statistics on the family.
C. J. Friberg is listed as one of the early township officers of Jupiter Township, Kittson County, which was organized in 1882. The township contained mostly open land to the west, and brush and timber to the east. Eventually, the eastern portion was cleared, except near Halma Swamp.
